CHANCELLOR OSBORNE TO STEP DOWN ! Posted by Peter Darling on 02/12/2011 at 03:33
As some of you may know our Treasurer of recent years, John Osborne, will step down at the Club's AGM in January and I take this opportunity of thanking John for his successful work during his tenure!

Being Treasurer is not an onerous job and I am therefore looking for a volunteer to take on this role.

Currently the role involves:

- monitoring our income and expenditure
- attending a number of committee meetings (normally 4 + AGM)during the year
- liaising with club captains regarding match fees and subscriptions

If you would like to help the Club, this is an ideal opportunity for you to get involved. So please contact me on 01296 689181 or 07768 838223, or email niallmackay@btinternet.com

SUPER SATURDAY Posted by Peter Darling on 24/08/2011 at 06:48
This Saturday, August 27th, Cublington 1st XI and 2nd XI are involved in battles for promotion for top spot in their divisions of the Cherwell League so please COME ALONG AND SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL CLUB !!!

The 1st XI are at home at Orchard Ground from 1 pm against one of Cherwell’s biggest clubs, Horspath, with the two of us occupying first and second places in Division 5. A win for Cubs almost certainly sees us promoted as Champions !!!

The 2nd XI are away at Brackley also from 1 pm and also with both teams occupying the top two spots in Division 9. A win for Cubs makes promotion almost certain but the top spot argument may go to the last weekend of the season. Cubs are anyway looking for revenge after losing at home to Brackley earlier in the season. Brackley’s ground is in Westminster Road Brackley NN13 7EB

PLEASE COME ALONG AND SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL CLUB !!!

Clubs Updates - coming thick and fast Posted by Peter Darling on 14/07/2011 at 08:20
Congratulations to the Under 9s for their victory in the ADL Final on Monday evening and to the Under 10s for their BCB Semi Final victory last night.

Best of luck to the Under 15s for their ADL Final this evening V Kimble at Princes Risborough, the Mid-Week seniors who play their ADL Senior Semi Final this evening and The Coronation Cup side who play Eggington Forresters in the Final at Ascott on Friday evening.

Watch out for the Under 14s and the Under 10 who will play at the Bucks Finals Day at Stowe School on Sunday - both matches to start at 11am.

I feel some silverware is in the offing.

Good luck lads - do well.
Youth Update Part 4 Posted by Peter Darling on 06/07/2011 at 05:35
Under 10s (BCB) - Carter's boys came out top of the Divison 1 North at the Under 10 level playing some excellent cricket and now face a semi against Ballinger to make finals day - details of when and where are with Andy (07971) 508680.

Under 9s (ADL) - It looks like it is between us and Wendover for top spot for the East Divison Winners who will go on to play either Great Kingshill or Aston Rowant for the overall title - the final is at Cublington on Monday 11th July 2011 - best of luck to Euan and the lads.

If you want to track the progress of the divisional league tables yourselves as the results come in, the websites are as follows;

www.buckscb.org (club competitions)

www.admcl.co.uk

Overall we are heading for another exciting season finale!!!
Youth Update Part 3 Posted by Peter Darling on 06/07/2011 at 05:34
Under 13s (ADL) - led by the managment team of Goldberg, Simmonds and Ellis. Not clear cut as there are a lot of results still to be input on the League website. The Cubs are in the mix but it looks as though Dinton will take the title. Still a fine effort - many of the lads in this age group have had their first taste of adult cricket this season.

Under 12s (BCB)- a good season following promotion by last years' side - sitting mid-table but there have been a lot of 'ifs' and 'buts' - next season we will push on.

Under 11s (BCB) - second place in Division 1 North is a top effort - the reward? A tough looking semi final against Chesham A to make finals day. Com'on Justin and the Under 11s - you can do it!! match details are with Justin 07770) 777221.
Youth Update Part 2 Posted by Peter Darling on 06/07/2011 at 05:33
Under 14s (BCB)- Having won the BCB Division North, Alan and the lads have a tough looking semi final against High Wycombe, if they are to make finals day at Stowe School but they can do it and go on to win the whole thing. Fabulous season so far lads - let's make it better. Alan has details of when and where the semi final will be played (07548) 979636.
Youth Update Part 1 Posted by Peter Darling on 06/07/2011 at 05:32
As we are reaching the time of year when divisional winners are being announced as well as details of semi finals and finals, here is an update on how our youth sides are faring:

Under 17s (ADL) - a decent season looks like ending just short of winning the North Division - a couple of rained off matches looks to have cost the lads - Dinton are in pole position to take the divisional title. However a great effort from Howie, Bainsey and the lads.

Under 15s (ADL) - Rickard's lads have seen off all opposition and taken the North east divisional title - it looks like either Kimble or Bledlow Ridge await them in the overall final to be played on Thursday 14th July - full details with Colin (07776) 154862 - top effort boys - lets go on and win it!
Press Coverage Posted by Peter Darling on 15/06/2011 at 12:20
For anyone who doesn't read the local papers I'd like to say what a sterling job Press Officer Ian lawson is doing.

At the moment we are the main contributors to the cricket pages for The Leighton Buzzard Observer and The Bucks Herald.

Fantastic coverage for our club and great for the youth (and some seniors) to see their name in print.

Cracking job, Ian, keep it going.

Buoyed with sausage and bacon sandwiches and mugs of hot steaming tea, volunteers ripped into the tasks at hand and got the ground looking match ready by lunchtime.

With the sun high in the sky,the outfield clipped and smooth and the sightscreens glistening white it could only remind one that cricket in Cublington is back for another season!!

GROUND FORCE DAY - Saturday 9th April at the Orchard Ground 8.30am Posted by Peter Darling on 15/03/2011 at 11:13
No, not Groundhog Day - the brilliant Bill Murray comedy from 1993 - but Ground FORCE Day - the true start of the cricket season when all those little jobs get done before the season can get underway properly.

Come along - have a coffee and a bacon or sausage sandwich - roll your sleeves up and help get the club ready for the season.

The more volunteers we get - the quicker the job gets done.

Stick the time and date in your diaries and Blackberries and get yourself down to the Orchard Ground.

See you there!
An Introduction to Cricket Umpiring Course Posted by Peter Darling on 08/02/2011 at 11:44

So learn to umpire properly.

The Bucks Cricket Board have organised two introductory courses for volunteers from 11 through Dads and onto Grandads who desperately want to help out at youth matches but are a little unsure about umpiring.

So,

11.4.2011 Stoke Mandeville Stadium 7.30pm to 9.30pm or

14.4.2011 High Wycombe Cricket Club 7.30 to 9.30pm

Go along - get involved - it'll be fun!!

Cherwell league Posted by Peter Darling on 21/11/2010 at 14:52
Cricket at Cublington moved into a new era on Thursday evening when the club was successful in its application to be elected to join the Cherwell League –

www.cherwellcricketleague.co.uk

- the Cherwell Cricket league consists of 37 clubs from across six counties. There are 10 divisions with 100 sides competing.

From next season our first and second elevens will be testing their talents against some excellent opponents in some stunning locations across Beds, Bucks, Gloucs, Herts, Northants and Oxfordshire.

Playing a higher standard of cricket at the top end of the club brings the importance of a strong youth section sharply into focus. The club’s vision is based on sustainability which can only be achieved if we have the young players coming through the youth set up before taking their first steps in senior cricket with the third eleven and then onto the first and second sides.
Cubs elected to join Cherwell League in 2011 Posted by Nick Talbot on 19/11/2010 at 12:28
Congratulations to everyone as last night the club was elected to join the Cherwell league in 2011.
We don’t know which Divisions the 1sts & 2nds will play in yet. Watch this space for further details.
Cubs Get ‘Club of the Year’ nod at annual sports awards Posted by Nick Talbot on 08/11/2010 at 08:19
Following a highly successful season both on and off the field Cublington Cricket Club has been nominated for ‘Club of the Year’ at the annual Bucks Sport Awards. This is a great end to a fantastic season. As anyone who is involved in the running of club will tell you, there are quite literally hours and hours of time put in by members and volunteers alike. Not just playing time, coaching, organising, meetings, preparing the ground and much, much more. Recognition of this nature is for everyone at the club to celebrate. The fact that the club has achieved the success that it has this season from junior level right through the seniors is the icing on the cake.

The ‘Club of the Year’ award is one of nine due to be handed out at the event which takes place on the evening of 19th November at Hartwell House. The host will be Giles Long MBE, one of the most successful and well respected Paralympic swimmers of our time.

Looking ahead....... Posted by Steve George on 06/09/2010 at 18:35
What bodes particularly well for the future of the club is the pool of young talented cricketers who are coming through the ranks. It was interesting to note that 18 of the 33 players, playing this last weekend were aged 25 or younger! And the following week the club had 3 Under 9 players representing Bucks against Surrey!
Some of us remember embarking on this journey in 2002, when we entered a young 1st X1 in Div 5 of the FCCL. Eight years later, the club has grown in strength and depth and the achievements of this season by our junior and senior sides are quite outstanding and represent fulfillment of the plans and dreams made 8 years ago. Preparations are already taking place for 2011 and to support our cricketing juggernaut, we need all members and parents of young players to help in whatever way they can... so if you are prepared to help please let us know, we can find you a role that suits you and is not a burden!- onwards and upwards!!
What a season that was!! Posted by Steve George on 06/09/2010 at 18:34
The final round of FCCL league matches saw a comprehensive win for the 1st X1, which meant that we became Div 1 League champions for the first time. Many congrats to Ben Sim and his squad who celebrated in some style at The Unicorn on Saturday night with the 2nd X1 squad who, despite having their match abandoned, gleaned enough points to stay top of Div 3 as champions. The 3rd X1 completed their most successful season so far consolidating 4th position in Div 6. Well done to Tom Gadsby and Steve Bullock and their respective squads.
ADL titles for U9's and U11's Posted by Steve George on 13/07/2010 at 17:56
Not content with winning their respective divisions of the ADL, both the U9 and U11 teams won the play-off finals on successive nights this week (12 & 13 July). Both matches had exciting finishes, but our lads held their nerve and some crucial catches to bring home the first 2 pieces of silverware this season - Well played to all members of the squad and their coaches and managers
U10's reach County Finals Posted by Steve George on 09/07/2010 at 17:15
Many congratulations to the U10 squad and manager Andrew Carter as they triumphed against a strong Gerrards Cross side on the evening of 9 July. This means that they are the first Cublington side to reach the Bucks County Finals day at Stowe School (18 July) where they will take on Chesham.

The U13's did not fare so well against Gerrards Cross U13's, losing by 9 wickets. However the side have had a fantastic season and can still win the Aylesbury & District play-off final next week.

The U17's narrowly lost their semi final to Thame Town on Thursday 8 July.

Cublington U9's, u11's and U13's play in the ADL finals on the 12th, 13th and 14th July respectively - all support welcome!!
Junior season in full swing! Posted by Steve George on 08/06/2010 at 03:13
An impressive start to the 2010 season sees 4 of our 8 junior teams top of their respective divisions, 2 teams in 2nd place and the U11,13,15 sides all in the County Cup Quarter finals. With roughly half the matches to be played, we wish the players (and managers) all the best!
CCC narrowly miss out on 'Club of the Year' award Posted by Nick Talbot on 30/11/2009 at 08:50
On Friday 27th November 2009 Robin Harrhy and Ben Sim attended the Bucks Sport presentation evening at Horwood House hotel on behalf of the cricket club who had been nominated and short listed in the Club of the Year category. The club narrowly lost out and were runners up to local cycling club Team Milton Keynes. Despite this it was a great honour for our club and reflects all the hard work by our many volunteers who help to make Cublington CC so successful. Well done to everyone.

Cublington Crown Campaign with County Cup win! Posted by Steve George on 13/09/2009 at 18:40
Cublington claimed the Bucks County Challenge Cup trophy with a fine team performance at High Wycombe CC against old rivals Winchmore Hill. Batting first, Cublington started well, faltered, came back strongly and then finished their innings with a flourish setting a competitive total of 204-6. Bill Burton (75) Pip Webb (51) and Steve George (28*) making the main contributions. After a nervous start, Howard Sayers, Adam Goldberg, Greg Jenkins and the indominatable Steve Godfrey, then put the brakes on and took wickets steadily. With 4 overs to go Winchmore Hill needed 32 with 3 wickets remaining, but were skittled by an inspired (and 2 stone lighter) Godfrey, eventually falling 27 runs short. The acting skipper Adam Goldberg accepted the trophy from BCB Secretary Martin Watts, together with a cheque to the club for £500 as winners. A fitting end to a great season!
'Most successful season ever' draws to a close Posted by Steve George on 10/09/2009 at 16:59
It started with the Junior teams, who by the end of July had brought home ADL trophies at U8, U9, U15 and U17 age groups. Our U10's reached the County semi final and the U11 and U13's performed well. Then our senior midweek side finished runners up in both the ADL midweek league and cup. Our second team won Div 4 of the FCCL with a game to spare and the 1st X1 finished higher than ever before (4th) in Div 1 of the FCCL. The Sunday side have won 11 out of 14 matches so far and our Sunday Cup side play against Winchmore Hill in the Final of the Bucks Challenge cup on 13 September at High Wycombe CC.
Its been a memorable season for the club and we hope to finish on a high in the final. It's a 12.30 start and all support would be most welcome.

Some great individual and team performances will be celebrated at our annual dinner on Saturday November 28th at The Unicorn
CUBLINGTON DO IT AGAIN! Posted by Nick Talbot on 04/08/2009 at 16:17
Cublington juniors continued their winning season with the Under 8's winning the Junior Kwik crickest festival at Buckingham Town on Sunday. In the first of four summer tournaments organised by the Bucks Cricket Board, Cublington were victorious in all their group matches against Buckingham, Stony Stratford & Tring and then went onto victory in the final against Buckingham, with Cublington scoring 247 and Buckingham making 208 in reply. The squad of 10 players performed brilliantly in all the matches with the newcomers Adam Bromiley, Ryan Bullock and Dominic Boyd all playing well in thier first matches. All the team performed really well, but Tom Carter with the bat and Marcus Critchley with the ball were the outstanding performers of the day as they propelled the team to win the trophy.
It has been a great season for the Cublington U9's and U8's and the team is already looking forward to summer 2010!
CUBLINGTON UNDER 9'S CHAMPIONS Posted by Nick Talbot on 15/07/2009 at 07:34
Cublington Under 9's successful season culminated in victory over Dinton in the Play off final of the Aylesbury District League U9's final. Cublington reached the final having been unbeaten in the North District league and came up against a very strong Dinton team. Dinton batted first and made a good net score of 272, restricted by some good Cublington bowling, the Cublington wicket takers were Marcus Critchley, Jack Rodnight, Harry Sellers, Hugo Meynell and Adam Sellers. In response Cublington were struggling inspite of an excellent innings from Thomas Faulkner, however thanks to excellent middle knocks from Tom Sykes, Milan Laljani and Marcus Critchley suddenly Cublington were in with a chance. It was down to the cool young heads of Jack Rodnight and Tom Carter to guide the team to victory and a total score of 282, thanks to some beautiful strokes and good running. The culmination of a great season for the all conquering Under 9's.

Mentmore players join forces with Cublington Posted by Steve George on 19/03/2009 at 19:44
For those not yet aware, we welcome former Mentmore Saturday League players to the Cublington ranks as we join forces for the 2009 season. Having struggled to raise a full team for the last season or two, Mentmore pulled out of the leagueover the winter. We have already got to know the guys at the first few net sessions (and at The Unicorn afterwards) and what a great bunch they are!! We are confident that all 3 of our league sides will be strengthened by their presence and know that they will soon feel an integral part of the club.

CRICKET FORCE Day is April 4th Posted by Steve George on 03/03/2009 at 19:10
On Saturday April 4th, all members (over 13 years old) are being asked to come and support the club and the Nationwide Natwest Cricket Force campaign, to complete an array of jobs which need to be done before the season. The day kicks off at 8.30am with bacon sandwiches and tea/coffee. Robin Harrhy will then allocate each person a job which needs to be done. It might be painting the sight screens, filling in the holes in the drive, clearing out the scorebox, weeding the patio or sorting out the kit or one of many others. If we have a GREAT response then hopefully we will be able to retire to the Unicorn for lunch! - Please contact Robin on 688387 to let him know you will be attending. We will be joined by members of the tennis club, allotment society and villagers so please make every effort to attend.

Annual dinner a great success Posted by Steve George on 29/11/2008 at 19:52
On Friday 28 November 50 members gathered at The Unicorn for a very enjoyable evening arranged by Clare Barker and the Social Action Group. Tables games, an auction and music by Rondeau provided the entertainment, with New second team skipper Tom Gadsby and president John Gregory doing their best to clear out the stock of 'house red' in the Unicorn cellar!

A profit of £2400 was raised for club funds - a magnificent achievement given the number of people attending and the financial pressures. Thanks to all who attended and made the occasion memorable!
U11's are ADL champions! Posted by Steve George on 16/07/2008 at 18:00
Having won their division, the U11's played Wendover at Bledlow on Tuesday 14 July in the U11 play off final. Chasing a Wendover score of 227 (net) our boys romped home to the delight of manager Mike Chastney, coach Will Lovatt and parents. For full details see the results page. Well done to the whole U11 squad who have had a terrific season!
Michael's Maestros forge ahead! Posted by Steve George on 14/06/2008 at 11:18
Cublington U15's, ably led by manager Michael Reilly, had a string of magnificent results this week (11,12,13 June). On Wednesday the lads beat local rivals Dinton by 10 wickets, on Thursday they progressed to the Bucks Cup Quarter final by beating Farnham Royal by 8 wickets and on Friday they thrashed Thame Town by 9 wickets. Full details of each performance can be found under RESULTS. Well done to the team!
League sides do a 'Hatrick' Posted by Steve George on 25/05/2008 at 10:44
Ten years ago, I was asked what my cricketing ambition was. At the time we had a Sunday friendly side only and my response was 'To open the batting for our 3rd X1 league side' This weekend (24 May 2008) we went one better. All three League sides won (convincingly) and whilst I was still playing for the ones, I did not bat, bowl or take a catch. What a tremendous achievement for the club to put out 3 league sides with a host of talented young players performing excellently (we could have probably fielded a 4th X1) and win all the matches with a zero contribution from the Chairman! - retirement beckons!!
U15 skipper is hatrick hero Posted by Steve George on 16/05/2008 at 21:33
Hot off the press at 9.30pm on 16/5, skipper of U15's, Will Rodnight takes a hatrick against Wendover in the Bucks Cup to propel his side to a convincing win. All 3 victims were bowled!! Well done Will.
