Game Changers, which is Cublington CC’s disability cricket programme, celebrated its inception at an event where participants played Table Cricket, which is a form of the game played on a Table Tennis table. The format was developed by Lord’s Taverners and is designed for people of all abilities. During the game, bowlers roll a ball across the table towards the batter, who aims to hit it towards scoring zones fitted to the sides of the table; fielders can defend the zones by manoeuvring fielders along the table's edges. Picture a combination of Cricket, Table Tennis and Subbuteo.
Excited by the event's success, Cublington CC would like Table Cricket to become a regular feature of Game Changers sessions. Bucks Cricket’s Samina Mehrab kindly supported the event and taught participants and volunteers how to play the game.
Game Changers begins its regular schedule of sessions on Saturday 10th May. The weekly sessions take place from 10:00 - 11:00 on Saturday mornings, are free-of-charge, and are designed for children and young adults with disabilities, diagnosed conditions and impairments. Sessions are relaxed and an opportunity for participants to learn new skills, socialise and, most importantly, have fun.

The event coincided neatly with the completion of extensive work around the pavilion, which improves accessibility for wheelchair users. The work includes a new path linking the driveway and main entrance, relaying the path that circumnavigates the pavilion, and installing new ramps at the exit of the pavilion leading onto the cricket pitch. Work was paid for by the Orchard Ground Association and accelerates Cublington CC’s journey to becoming a fully accessible and inclusive club.
