Saturday 1st April May be an opportunity for a practical joke to many but it’s getting serious at Cublington Cricket Club as we start to ready one of finest grounds in the county for another summer of cricket. Yes it’s Ground Force day 2023.

Unlike the hit 1990’s TV show which featured competent and knowledgeable tradesmen and gardeners, at Cublington we learn from our past mistakes and typically take instructions from those who have made the biggest.

There’s lots of jobs for young and old to do culminating in the ancient tradition of ‘hoisting the sight screen’ which sees the first team captain push it skywards with his big pole. Not to be missed.

So grab your gardening gloves and head down to the ground at 10am next Saturday - we’ll make sure that the kettle is boiling even if the temperature isn’t.
