Winter Nets 2026

Winter Nets 2026

Anthony Lewis22 Jan - 18:00

Put your whites in the washing machine - it’s time to play cricket.

With the Ashes resoundingly lost, Christmas a distant memory and challenge of Dry January now feeling like a questionable decision, it must mean it’s time to start thinking about your breakthrough cricket season which sees you plunder hundreds of runs, take dozens of wickets, all culminating in so many awards that you need to buy a new display cabinet.

To help you achieve this high-water mark in your personal sporting achievement, Cublington CC have secured the sports hall at Cottesloe High School in Wing every Saturday commencing 7th Feb and running through to the 28th March.

We have a two-hour slot (1pm to 3pm) which we propose to share between the junior and senior players.

We invite children who played for, or have designs on playing for, the U11 and U13 sides in the 2026 season from 1pm to 2:15pm. We would be delighted to see new children at these sessions.

Senior players, together with older juniors (U15 and upwards) will join from 1:30pm to 3pm.

Our plan is to give the children the run of the entire hall for 30 minutes before the nets are pulled out at 1:30pm. The senior players will use the nets whilst the youngsters will have the remaining 50% of the hall to practice using lightweight balls. Protective equipment is not essential but can be worn so children get familiar with wearing it.

Although the nets provide a very controlled environment for indoor cricket, the use of hard balls in the hall precludes us from having the very youngest players in attendance (be assured will have their moment in the sun come early summer).

Senior net prices are £6 a session and £3 for juniors.

The sessions are open to anyone with an interest in playing cricket for Cublington this season. We would love to see new faces, former players, occasional players and old dinosaurs join the regular crew as we look to strengthen the ranks for what is sure to be another glorious season of this wonderful game.
