Fielding five U12 players, Cubs U13s lost the toss and were put into bat by Haddenham. A solid opening partnership with Ben and Rhys laid a good foundation to the innings. The fall of the first wicket came at 26 in the 5th over. However this was followed by a second wicket with the very next ball. Charlie Taylor then came to the crease and was able to steady the ship with Rhys before the 3rd wicket fell at 42 in the 9th over. Some really tight bowling and good fielding from Haddenham kept the pressure on with wickets falling regularly and scoring boundaries proving difficult. The innings eventually closed on 84 for 8 with Charlie Taylor being 18 not out supported by a good contribution from another U12 in the middle order, Callum Tearle.
A difficult target to defend, the Cubs bowlers set about their work as Haddenham were clearly confident they could reach the 85 runs required to win. Two early wickets changed the mood with opening bowlers Ben Perkin and Cameron Bullock bowling really accurately restricting the scoring. Haddenham soon fell being the required run rate with the Cubs bowling continuing to be consistent, supported by some excellent fielding. Pick of the bowlers was Charlie Taylor who bowled 4 overs for only 10 runs, taking 2 wickets including a sharp caught and bowled.
Half term break then next up the tough proposition of Dinton.
