A great Sunday friendly at the Orchard Ground saw a bright Cublington start pegged back by Hyde Heath. Bridgen and Fairhurst added 51 and 30 respectively to give Cubs a solid start, with Borch adding 24. Harry Gadsby, aged 13, played with great responsibility at four to anchor the innings with an unbeaten 37 not out as wickets tumbled at the other end. Tim Taylor added 31 to see Cubs to tea with 191.
Despite the Cub's best efforts two Hyde Heath batsmen, Haddock with 47 and Umar with 65, took Hyde Heath to within touching distance of Cub's score. Bridgen, and Fairhurst late on took two wickets apiece but Hyde Heath were home with five wickets to spare.
