Can we get PC to build a roof for the ground?

A fine all round effort by the Cubs batsmen was ultimately frustrated by the weather. Kit and Calum opened the Cubs innings and added a solid base against New Bradwell's opening bowlers on a very tricky, damp, green wicket. The ball was bouncing erratically and seaming both ways so 44 for the first two wickets looked very sound. At that stage we would have been happy with 150 off our 35 overs. The middle order, consisting of Gus Macleod, Tom Scott, Matthew Sparkle and Harry Gadsby had a combined age equivalent to a Farr or a Gadsby senior but carried on the good work of the openers in tough conditions. Gus hit 18 and Sparkle 24, including a six back over the bowler's head, although he probably owed his team a decent knock after hanging his batting partner, Harry G out to dry, calling him through for a fourth run and then sending him back. Naughty Sparkle. As the New Bradwell team ran out of proper bowlers Cubs' lower order batsmen cashed in. Following the youngsters were an ageing Borch at seven, an ageless David Hasselhoff at eight and an ancient Gadsby at nine who all had fun slapping very slow spin and seam around the park. The final total felt some way above par but sadly we never got the chance to find out. After tea we managed a total of 4.2 overs in two stints before we bowed to the inevitable and retired to the pub to build an ark. And to start work on that roof.
