Comfortable win takes U13s to top of the league

The U13 Cubs maintained their winning start to the season with a comfortable win over Dinton. Losing the toss the Young Cobs were asked to bat. Opening pair Callum Bailey and Rhys Nicholas made a solid start before Callum was bowled in the 3rd over with the score on 20. An impressive second wicket partnership of 50 with Ethan Viljoen set the basis for the victory before Rhys was out for 25. The run rate slowed as Dinton fielded impressively before Ethan was out with the score on 70. The innings was given a formidable look as Ben Perkin (25 no) and Cameron Bullock (21 no) saw the innings to a close of 128 for 3 off 20 overs.
Dinton got there innings off to the worst possible start losing a wicket with the very first ball as Cameron sent the bails flying. The second pair rebuilt the innings impressively with some positive batting and both retired for 30 not out. Without these 2 players the Dinton batting failed to match the impressive Cubs bowling. Every player was given the opportunity to bowl and all bowled tightly. Ethan and Ben taking 2 wickets each. The second half of the Dinton innings saw the scoring rate fall well below the target and eventually closed at 105 for 7 after 20 overs.
