U13s prevail in the tightest of finishes

The U13s kept their season's unbeaten run going but left it to the last ball.
Having won the toss Cublington invited Waddesdon to bat. Ethan and Callum opened the bowling really well each taking an early wicket to have the openers out within the first 3 overs. Waddesdon began to rebuild with their captain playing a really mature innings. However once reduced to 32 runs for the loss of 5 wickets the pressure was on the batting side. Aside from the odd audacious boundary the scoring rate was kept down with Waddesdon eventually being bowled out for 80 in the 19th over. Every player got to bowl so it was a complete team performance. Special mention though to young Tristan Burnard from the U12s who bowled a really good over and fielded exceptionally well. Callum Bailey was also alert in the field getting 2 catches and a run out.
Chasing a target of 81 the Young Cubs started their innings in confident mood. However a top order collapse with us being 3 wickets down for only 11 runs put the pressure on the middle order. Will Roy and Ethan Viljoen steadied the ship with some mature batting then the innings was given momentum with a superb innings of 21 from Adam Bosompem. The lower order of Michael Chater, Robert Lee and George Morrell-Swain all contributed as we progressed slowly to the modest yet challenging target. With 4 overs to go and only 6 runs required it sounds straight forward but some really tight bowling and fielding from Waddesdon kept the pressure on. At the start of the final over 3 runs were still required as Robert was run out going for the winning run. Scores level and we're down to the last ball when Josh Davidson came to the crease. Along with George they scrambled the run required off the last ball to secure victory by 2 wickets.

What a night. Oh and by the way it was a lovely evening and the hospitality fantastic!
